Tonsil Like Thing On Gums And Molars, Sore Tooth. What Can Be Done?

Hi my two year old daughter has what looks like a tonsil on her gum. It up the top/back on her right hand side. She doesn t have her two year old molars yet but it may b underneath this thing hanging of her gum. She came to me and told me she had a sore tooth but she seems to be in good spirits so I think it s more because she can feel it there with her tounge. Is this something I should be worried about?

Hi penny,

Thanks for choosing hcm forum,

As you said, the molars of your daughter ,has not yet erupted.

So the tonsils may be the result of protrusion of gums during eruption of molars.
you Can try giving carrots etc.to chew as it can enhance tooth eruption.
Also keepm her teeth clean to prevent carries occurence.
If the symptoms persist even after tooth eruption, please do consult a dentist.
Hope this helps.

hello there,

Tonsil like overgrowth seen on the gums is nothing but the gum elevation that marks eruption of the primary teeth in your daughter .

Nothing to worry about , she may experience little pain and sometimes fever which are signs of eruption.

maintain good oral hygiene to prevent accumulation to food in the gum pockets whichmay lead to gum infection and caries.

you can go for symptomatic treatment at home like gargling with lukewarm saline water and gum massaging to prevent infection and enhance eruption.

i hope this helps ,

take care.

thanks for asking your query

your daughter is going through tooth eruption phase
during eruption process the gum elevates as the tooth bud comes out,its a normal process so nothing to worry
maintain good oral hygiene and avoid touching that area with a tongue.
once tooth is out the gum gets normal.

Hi,

Thanks for asking the query,

Due to erruption of primary teeth you may see elevation and swelling of the surrounding gingiva.

You need not to worry about the symptoms,as it is a normal process sometimes it can be associated with fever and diarrhoe.

Maintain good oral hygiene.
Use lukewarm saline gargles clean the area with antiseptic mouthwash to prevent infection.

Hope this helps out.

Dear friend.

Thanks for sharing your concern.

As your daughter is in early growing phase she will experience, a little pain and discomfort due to growing teeth.

The tonsil like elevation seen is nothing but the elevated gum tissue.

Maintain very good oral hygiene and eat good and nutritious diet rich in calcium. The teeth will come on its own there is nothing to be worried.

Also if possible ask her to do warm saline rinsing,it helps.

Hope i have answered your query.

Thanks.

Take care.

hi there
thank you for writing in healthcare magic forum.
you need not to worry at all as its eruption phase for primary (milk) teeth .
it is the ginival (gum) flap overlying the erupting tooth.
mild swelling in that area can be there.
sometimes it is associated with mild fever and diarrhea.
do warm saline rinses after every meal , assure your daughter that it is just a process of teeth erupting.
if symptoms get sever do visit a pedodontist.
if any doubt , feel free to write us back.
regards
