Tingling From The Knees Down In Both Legs, Started After A Red Eye Flight, Feet Swollen. Thyroid Readings Are Not Normal. Graves Disease Earlier. Is This Related?

I have tingling from the knees down in both legs, it started after a red eye flight where I fell asleep and once we landed my feet were very swollen. The symptoms started shortly thereafter not as bad but enough to annoy me. I went to my Dr. and also found out that my thyroid readings were bad. My muscles are now tight massage helps but I cannot stretch enough to correct this. UI had graves disease and took radioactive iodine many years ago, I do not convert T4 to T3 so am on compounded meds. Is any of this related?

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.

I suspect that the cause of your tingling in both legs down the knees could be due to Lumbar canal stenosis.

An MRI scan of lumbar spine is necessary to establish the diagnosis.

This condition is usually treated with Analgesic medications like Advil or Aleve, Corticosteroid injections and physical therapy.

I suggest you to consult an orthopedic surgeon for a workup and management.

Hope this information is helpful. Good day
