Throbbing Leg Pain, Difficult To Walk, Climb Stairs. Some Relief With Advil. Cure?

I have been having leg pain for a few weeks, mild at first, but now throbbing and getting hard to walk without pain. It feels like it is in my thigh, but also goes all the way down to my ankle. I wake up at night in pain and it continues to hurt all day. I have been taking Advil and it seems to help for a couple of hours, then the pain comes back strong. on a scale of one to ten my pain is a 6-8. I can not climb stairs very easily or step up on a curb with my left leg. I am a 61 year old female, non smoker.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for writing to us.
The pains that you have described are likely to be due to a muscular pain. Taking mild pain killers and muscle relaxants will bring a short term relief. Regular stretching exercise will be helpful. Eat a diet rich in fresh fruits and green leafy vegetables, nuts, milk, eggs, pulses and cereals. Drink 1-2 litres of water daily.
Hope this helps you. You can consult me again directly through my profile http://www.healthcaremagic.com/doctors/dr-saurabh-gupta/64132

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Pain may be caused by any injury or inflammation involving the bone , soft tissue or blood vessels.

If there is no history of trauma then it is not likely a fracture.

It may be related to the muscles or other soft tissue in the leg.

It would be best to visit your doctor for an assessment especially since the pain is increasing and ongoing for the past few weeks.

Your doctor will be able to examine you and may suggest xrays to rule out any bony injury.

I hope this helps
