Teenager. Feeling Of Not Being Hungry At All, Sick Feeling Thinking About Food, Losing Weight, Mood Swings. Help

i used to weigh about 118 pounds last year. i now am 17 i am 5"5 and i weigh only 100 pounds. i have been told i am anorexic. you can see my bones and i have lost so much weight. I promise people i will eat but i never do because i am not hungry. i want to eat, i lways have loved food. in my head the food sounds good to eat at one time but then I get the food in front of me and i no longer want to eat it. sometimes the thought of food makes me sick. i want to be health again and i want to gain weight. i lose more and more weight every week, i can go a day without eating. i am very emotional lately. i will cry and get so upset over little things that never mattered to me before. i don't know if this has to do with the eating or not. i am not just the same and i need help to understand what i should do from here.

Hi

Thanks for asking.

I think your symptoms are pointing towards the diagnosis of anorexia nervosa.

The patient feels the need to eat, but because of the inner conflicts usually ends up eating very little , or sometimes even vomiting out the eaten food.

You need to see a psychiatrist as this can be a serious condition leading to complications,

Thanks.

Hello,

It seems that you are developing depression due to not able to eat and this leading loss of weight. Acute loss of weight is due to anorexia. The cause of anorexia needs to be diagnosed. You have not mentioned details of any general evaluation or blood check ups. Please consult a general physician (or a gastro-entrologist as specialist) first to determine any underlying problem to your gastric system which might be causing your loss of interest in eating.

Thanks

Hi
Do you feel you are obese and need to loose weight? Anorexia Nervosa has a feeling that they are overweight, so the urge to eat is episodic at best. generally they have feelings of guilt immediately afterwards because they are convinced that they are overweight, They have amenorroea ( absence of periods) as well. It may be associated with Depression Or OCD . They have a lot of hormonal disturbances as well. So first it needs to be confirmed it is anorexia, nothing else. If it so, there is a psychotherapy programme plus medicines like Mirtazapine, SSRI and others that help you.
