Taking Thyroid Medicine. Have Fracture In Lower Back, No Pain. Will Forteo Help?

My 84 year old mother has untreated osteoporosis and her dr wants to put her on Forteo. She is very healthy otherwise, but does take thyroid medicine. She does not smoke or drink and is not obese. However, she was recently told she had a small fracture in her lower back. She has no pain and walks 3 miles a day. Would Forteo actually mend the fracture or merely slow the bone thinning process? She is very resistant to taking the injections. Thanks You, Pam
