Taking Methylprednisolone For Head Congestion, Cold. Will Infection Get Worse If Antibiotic Not Taken?
I was given a methylprednisolone pack of 21 pills to be taken in 6 days, for a head congestion and cold. I think I may also have a sinus infection, because I have yellow and sometimes green gunk coming up, I am concerned that it will make my infection worse if I don't get on a antibiotic please help, I took 6 pills this morning all at once and I don't feel any better, Should I continue to take the rest of the 5 day pack. my son is getting married and I am in desperate need of help on whether or not to take the remaining pack since is a Sunday and no one is open tomorrow to talk to . thank you, Debi

Hello.For the symptoms that you have sinus infection is a possible diagnosis.
If you have not improved with oral corticosteroid(methylprednisolone), in my opinion an antibiotic can be taken for treating your sinus infection.
Although the diagnosis of sinus infection is confirmed with a radiography, when the probability of infection is high,an antibiotic is prescribed to take before the results of radiography.
I treat my patients with Moxifloxacin 400 mgr per day 10 days when the diagnosis is sinus infection.
.Please consult your local doctor for a prescription and request radiography.
