Swollen Labia With Itching And A Painful Lesion. What Does It Indicate?

Hi,

I have had a swollen right labia for 2 months. The inner labia skin has been itchy on and off - at times painful too.

I have noticed a small cut in the skin which is painful to touch and where the itching originates from.

Ive been to the doctor three times, so far they treated me for herpes - it wasn't that, then they gave me a vaginal cream which eased the itching for 1 week but it came back so they tested the area for a yeast infection whcih was psoitive so I had a course of antibiotics.

This hasn't worked. I still have the cut and pain/itch. I am very stressed out and now have swollen glands on my face and throat which I think is from the stress of this.

Please can you give me any advice?

Thank you.

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for writing to us.
The doctors rightly diagnosed the condition as either yeast infection or herpes. As you tested positive for yeast infection, a course of oral antifungal and topical antifungal should help.
These ingections could be recurrent and hence the frequent episodes.
Antibiotics do not help in Candida or yeast infection.
Hope this helped.
Take care
