Suggest Treatment For Seizure?

Sir, My 5 year old son has been suffering from seizure and presently he has been taking AED for mor than one year. He was first given with encorate from march 2011 but inspite of increasing dose, it did not work and since July 2011, tagrital is used and presently he has been taking 12.5 ml/day and the seizure is under control. My apprehension is that still he is hyper active. Of course the other activities in the home and school are normal and he is intelligent too. What ifurther nvestigation and treatment he requires? who is/are the doctor in delhi to whom we should consult?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Seizures well controlled on tablets for more than 3 years indicate that medicines can be tapered now. You are advised to do MRI brain and EEG brain.

If they come out to be normal, then medicines can be tapered. You are also advised to consult pediatrician neurologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Pankaj Arora
