Hi, I had my wisdom teeth out yesterday, I had iv sedation and a steroid injection. It s over 24 hours now but my skin is very itchy, no hives or rash just really itchy. I m on 4 different prescriptions but 2 I know I m not allergic to. Is itchy skin normal after this procedure?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..
As per your complain itchy skin after i.v. sedation and medication going on seems to be due to side effect of either the ingredients present in sedation medication or can be due to oral medicines that you are taking post extraction.. In case if it is due to i.v sedation then gradually as the effect of medication will subside the symptoms will resolve.. In case if it is due to oral medications that you are taking it can be a side effect/allergic reaction to it and you need to consult your treating surgeon/dentist and get evaluated and he can either change the medicine or advise you antihistamines like Allegra or levocetrizine for relief..
Hope this information helps.
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora
