I have a torn c2 and c5 I have been taking naproxen for the last 2 years. Naproxen has helped but I have notice that I am taking more pills, because my headaches are getting worse from the torn c2 and c5? Do I continue with naproxen or do I have another step?

Hello...i'll try to address your concern.
A torn or ruptured intervertebral disc typically causes neuropathic pain due to compression of the nerves.
It would be helpful to know whether you are alao getting pain in the neck or pain radiating down the shoulders along with numbness.
In my opinion you will need to be on prophylactic medication. The mediciation you are on will only provide temporary relief and it is not advisable to take it frequently.
For my patients with similar problems i use either amitryptiline ,pregabalin or gabapentin as prophylactic medicines to reduce the frquency of headaches. They need to be taken under close supervision.
Please consult your physician or neurologist who can guide you regarding the most appropriate treatment regimen for you.
Hope this helps..
