I get shakey, dizzy, weak, and just all around feel funny. It s been happening for months and I cannot figure out what s wrong. I get very shaky if I go without a meal. Which happens a lot because I have a 8 months old baby. Sometimes I still feel that way even after I eat.

Hello,
Thank you for your query. I understand your concerns.

You have a lot going on in your life- looking after a 8 month baby is not easy.

From what you have mentioned, I think you may be having reactive hypoglycaemia. Normally a person experiences hypoglycemia( low sugar ) when he has been hungry for a while or has been excessively indulged in physical activity with adequate food consumption.

In reactive hypoglycaemia, a person may experience low sugar symptoms ( like shaking, weakness, palpitations, sweating etc) even after eating food. Why this happens is not entirely clear, but it has been found in people who skip meals, who take meals at irregular times etc.

I would advise you to start eating at regular times as much as possible. Take healthy snacks in between meal times.

You could also get your haemoglobin levels checked to rule out anemia. Anemia can cause similar symptoms too.

Kindly get you blood glucose levels and TSH levels checked. Hyperthyroidism can cause sweats, shakes etc.

Do you have any palpitations(fast heart beat). An ECG can identify any cardiac causes of your symptoms.

I wish you good health.

I hope this answer has been helpful to you.
