Hello,
I'm afraid I'll have to disagree with your doctor. I believe you need treatment for your
cholesterol. Your LDL levels (although not mentioned) should be really high even for a patient without
diabetes. Diabetic patients should have a more strict cholesterol regulation according to current guidelines because their risk for cardiovascular and other complications is high. I would suggest sticking to a healthy diet, maintaining a healthy body weight and getting some exercise every day to the extent that other possible medical issues allow for. If you're a smoker try to cut down on
smoking.
I usually advice my patients to try
atorvastatin 20mg once every night, if no contraindications exist. This can prove enough to reduce your LDL levels to a more acceptable range.
A final word of caution: since I've only read the rather short paragraph you wrote, which does not include enough information for a complete evaluation, perhaps your first step should be to ask your doctor why he hasn't prescribed any medication for your cholesterol despite its high levels. You can ask me again if you'd like providing more information about your health, including
kidney and liver functionality, other medical issues, other drugs etc
Kind Regards!
