Suggest Treatment For Coughing Up Blood With Cirrhosis Of Liver

Hi our friend has been diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver. We went to visit her today and she was coughing up blood. She has lost nearly 6 lbs in the last fortnight, can't eat or drink as nothing will stay down and her own GP has said its part of the illness. She is Jaundiced has a swollen abdomen and leg/ankle and is confused. Why wont the doctor help her?

I am sorry to tell you that she has end stage liver disease and there is nothing more that can be done to change anything. That is probably why the doctor is not doing anything. She should have palliative care to make her more comfortable during this time. Ask for hospice/palliative care so that her passing can be eased. I wish you and her the best.
