Can Esophageal Hemorrhage Cause Death Within 2 Weeks?

My Brother was an alcoholic. He did not drink continuously but intermittently. When he did drink it was vet heavy. He died of an esophageal hemorrage. The post mortem revealed no cirrhosis, tumor, ulcer or any other anatomical abnormalities. I would like to know whether such a thing is possible over two weeks or whther it must be cumulative I.e the esophageal tract damaged over time. I wouldlike some speculation as to mental state since hebrefused treatment and absconded . This is not like him. He worried about the smallest cut . Lastly I would appreciate any consideration of how much pain he endured . Thank you very. Much

Hello,

An esophageal hemorrhage after heavy drinking is possible which may result in death. Although pain should be there in initial part of the illness, death usually is painless.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
