Hi,

Post menopausal bleeding may be an emergency some times, as it may be due to some serious cause in some cases. 10% of the cases may be due to uterine cancer. In most of cases, the condition is benign and the symptoms go by themselves.

However in your case, if the bleeding is so heavy that she cannot even stand, she needs immediate hospitalization for immediate stabilization of the condition by control of bleeding and blood transfusion if needed. She will also need to be hospitalized for proper diagnosis of the cause of this bleeding and treatment accordingly. In some cases hormone therapy may be needed depending upon the levels of hormone.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
