Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I just got out of the hospital a week ago with a blockage in my small intestines My dr said part of my small intestines wasn't functioning properly and sometimes they would start contracting back on there own. I had the tube suctioning my stomach for 4 days then we did the dye test and they said some of the die was going thru the digestive tract properly. I still do not really feel good even though I am having some bowel movement, Could this be dangerous if the blockage is still there ? I am suppose to see my family Dr again in a week.
They decided too wait on surgery to see if they would contract on their own.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
There are many reasons for pain in the post-operative recovery period as: - Spasm of the intestine - Adhesions in abdomen - Electrolyte Imbalance - Others.
As there is no green vomiting, fever or else, I would suggest continuing current medicines and consulting your family doctor as per schedule only.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
