Suggest Treatment For Abdominal Bloating And Loose Stools

I have stools that are normal to hard, but with what feels like loose stool coming out before and around it. I also get bloating, lower and upper abdominal. I feel like I don't digest food well...like I eat and it just sits in my upper abdomen. I had ovarian cancer 4 years ago and total hysterectomy. My stomach hasn't felt the same since. More bloating, gas, and this odd stool, with constipation. Help?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Loose stools with bloating indicate Intestinal infection causing the symptoms. Since, you have history of hysterectomy and ovarian removal for cancer of ovary, in intestinal obstruction is also possible.

Hence, I would advise you the following:

- An x-ray of abdomen in standing position
- Ultrasonography
- CT scan of abdomen
- Tests of blood and stool

Clinical evaluation by a General Surgeon and correlation with the reports for proper diagnosis and treatment as may be the findings.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant
