Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had numbness on the left side of my head for over 10 years. Recently I had the flu bug and ever since the numbness is much more prounonced. A few times I have woken up unable to breath. I have difficulty swallowing and at one point it went on so long my wife called 911. I was able to breathe again and felt bad that she had to make that call. I also have mild gerd that does require 40mg of omprazale daily and I am not the best patient in taking this medicine as prescribed. Any thoughts? I have to do some marathon driving this Thursday and want to be sure I am not a stroke candidate, 10 years would be a very long time to build up to a stroke. Maybe shingles or mild MS?
Hi First of all you should consult a cardiologist to rule out cardiac problems. With regards to GERD you need to rise the dose of omeprazole up to 80 mg per day. You can start to use domepridone for two weeks. Please perform upper endoscopy for a accurate diagnose. Dr.Klerida
