My 3 month old son was just tested for whooping cough because he made the whooping noise during crying. His fever has either been below normal or at the most 100.0. I am at home waiting for the test results to come back. But when do I need to take him to the hospital since he is so young?
You have to monitor your son for any signs of respiratory distress which are fast and labored breathing or seems to be struggling for breath or there seems to be pauses in his breathing; if he turns red or blue -this could mean he is gasping for air ; or if he has vomiting due to prolonged coughing. Any of these signs, you have to bring to the hospital immediately.
