Popping near jaw on eating and feeling swelling is most probably due to a condition called TM Joint arthralgia. Consult an ENT Surgeon first to have ENT endoscopy and examination for the jaw joint. If this is due to TM Joint problem then get MRI of the joint that includes ears automatically. Go for soft diet. Take a second opinion of a Dentist to see for any dental problems, misalignment and get treated accordingly. All these will lead to a proper diagnosis and thus a specific management.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
