Suggest Remedies For A Bump At The Back Of My Throat During A Flu

I have been sick for 6 days with what I believe is the flu. Our entire household is sick, but I took the baby and toddler to the doctor because of his age and because of her medical history. The pedtrician said it was viral, so my husband and I have not gone to the doctor. I now have a painful bump where my tongue attaches, my husband said he had it, but it has now gone away. The head congestion appears to have gone away, but I still have the chills, sweats, sore throat, and bump under my tongue. How can I treat the bump?

Hi,

With the history you have provided all of the family has viral infection.
- Viral infection needs a symptomatic treatment in the form of a decongestant and anti-inflammatory with painkiller properties like Ibuprofen if it suits you and all
- Bump in oral cavity can indicated super-added bacterial infection like tonsillitis hence may need additional antibiotic coverage
- Supportive treatment in the form of multivitamins and mineral
- Povidone iodine gargles
- Get COVID-19 tests done if suspected
- Any of the family members should see a Doctor if any complication is anticipated as in your case or is present
- Plenty of warm fluids

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
