Suggest Regular Contraceptive Method

Hi I'm 19 I'm 5ft and weigh about 8 and half stone and I have polycystic ovary syndrome. My contraception injection ran out about one month ago and I'm confused. I did go to the doctors when I thought I was due to have it again but I had it done at the hospital and they didn't let my doctors know so my doctor wouldn't give it me because they had no record of me having it done so they couldn't give it me because they didn't know the exact date I needed it and i wasn't too sure myself. But now I'm not sure if I can just go to the doctors and have it done and start again or if you can't do that and it has to be a regular thing please help I've not been able to have intercourse with my boyfriend because I don't trust just using condoms.
