Suggest Medication For Depression?

I am bipolar type I. 41 yr old female, divorced with 2 kids ages 12 and 9. I had gone through what I thought worst part of divorce with no episodes 11 yrs episode free, then last year at precisely this time, I had a major mixed state psychotic epidsode, at dr. ofc on my 40th bday, Jan 3. It took months to get better, then a period of what I thought stability, then sept-oct-nov up and down. Hospialized from Nov 15-20 for paranoid delusional. I am on wellbutrn 450mg, litihum, depakote, resperidal, xanax, and not today we added lexapro. I am not so much feeling sad or blue as I am negative thinking, ruminating, is it medical or psychological? I stay for days in bed, will not get up, bored and lonely. Please help.

Hello thanks for choosing HCM for your health related queries

I can understand your problem. You are a divorced woman who have to look after two kids. You developed a psychotic episode about one year back and are given Bupropion 450, Lithium, Sodium Valproate, Risperidone, Alprazolam etc drugs. Bupropion is a drug that is used in mild depression or in anxiety conditions. Other drugs you are using like Lithium, Sodium Valproate, Risperidone etc are prescribed for mood stabilisation and for control of aggressive symptoms. Xanax for sleep and anxiety. You have symptoms of sadness, negative thinking, ruminations etc which are most likely negative symptoms of depression. You have been advised Lexapro and as per my opinion the drug will help you to control the symptoms you are having. Alternatively medicines like Amisulpiride, Levosulpiride can also help you to come out of these negative symptoms. Consult your psychiatrist for prescription of these drugs.

Thanks, hope this helps you
