Suggest Cure For Dry Stuffy Nose

Hello Dr Bhatti, my 4 month old baby has a dry stuffy nose, it is worst at night. It affects his sleeping and eating. His doctor says there is no infection. We try mother s milk, saline drops and run a cold mist humidifer every night. When we use the nose suction device, nothing comes out (we pre moisten with breastmilk or saline drops 1st). My son has had a stuff nose, to the point that I have to clean it in the middle of the night, every night since we brought him home.

Hello,

You are doing everything in a right way. I will suggest you to continue saline drops, nebulization twice a day.

The common causes for stuff nose are:
1) Infections
2) Long term use of decongestants.

So, I will suggest you to avoid decongestant, maintain proper hygiene, keep him warm, and maintain proper diet. Continue regular follow up pediatrician if any other symptoms like fever, cough recurred.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shyam B. Kale
