Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am having chest pain, i get a sharp pain on the left side of my chest when i move my torso a certain way. I was playing football today (no tackle, just throwing) and ran a bit...I do not think it is my heart because i feel fine as far as my health goes just my left side of my chest when i move a certain way.
Thank you for your question. Is there any chest heaviness, bruising or shooting pain down to your left arm? If none, it is possible that you have strained your left intercostal muscles. Sudden movements and throws during the game without proper warm ups and stretching can cause minute tears in any muscle. No need to worry about this as muscles repair themselves on their own. You may apply a warm compress over the area to improve circulation and facilitates healing.
If the pain does not improve, in 3-5 days, please see a physician so that he/she can run tests like an ECG and Chest Xray.
Please do not hesitate to contact me for any further queries. Best, Dr Galera.
