Suffering From Diarrhoea And Pain In Lower Abdomen. History Of Gall Bladder Removed. Suggestion?

Over the past month, i have had two episodes where my right side, under my ribs and lower abdomen felt very emploded. I could barely stand straight. I went to the ER, thinking I had an appendecidis. Bloodwork was done, and he said everything looked fine. The pain subsided after a few hours....but now, for the past week, I have been suffering from diareah, yellow in color, and almost liquid, and seem to be very acidic. Very foul smelling. Any ideas of what I could be dealing with? By the way, I have had my gallbladder removed.

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
Presence of diarrhea along with mentioned location suggest possibility of involvement of small intestine and hepatic flexure.
Presence of foul smelling watery diarrhea suggest involvement of small intestine.
You should consult with internal medicine specialist and should go for through check up.
You should go for ultrasound imaging, complete blood count, serum electrolytes and renal function test.
You should take complete antibiotic course, anti-spasmodics and probiotics.
You should also maintain hydration.
If your condition won't improve and pain persist in right upper part of abdomen then you should also go for colonoscopy for better clarification.
As such there is no correlation of gall bladder removal and fresh episode of loose motion. But still you should go for ultrasound imaging.
Take care,
Dr. Mayank Bhargava
