Stabbing Pain In Chest, Unable To Take Deep Breaths, Pulsating Sensation. What Could It Be?
Hi last night I had a stabbing pain in my chest whenever I breathed in deeply it lasted about 5 mins and it was underneath my left breast in the middle of my chest and whenever I breathed in the pain would travel upwards it felt like a balloon at some points. I have had one other similar expirience where I could barely breath in at all because of the pain and when it subsided and I could breath I had a really strong pulse any ideas what it could be?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Lohit K's Response
Hi pain with deep breath suggests pleuritis. But since the pain is severe and in left side with radiation get checked for and cardiac problem. The cause for the symptoms may be many like musculoskeletal cause, cardiac, gastro esophageal or due to lung parenchyma or pleura. So this needs further evaluation using ECG, chest X ray, blood tests and others depending on the findings during examination.
So consult your doctor once for further management.
Hope this helps you.
