I have been having spotting for the last 3 days when I finished my period over a week and a half ago. It had stopped yesterday until I had sex with my boyfriend. We had to stop because I had all of a sudden a huge gush of blood about a cup or 2 and after that it stopped. I was just wondering what it could be? or is this normal

No, this can't be normal.
You should have a trans-vaginal ultrasound as soon as possible to find out the cause, which is very likely to be some lesion in your womb or cervix.
Also, consult a Gynecologist for local examination & have a pap smear if not done already.
