Sore Throat, Cough, Painful To Swallow. Taking Medpanadol. Ideas?

I have a sore throat that particularly hurts when I swallow, I also cough out yellow mucus when I want to clear my throat, the cough is not persistent, it only occurs when I want to cough, however when I take medpanadol the pain subsides a little when swallowing for a few hours, I have had the pain for 4 days now. Any idea what it could be? Please help. Thank you

hi,
thank you for your query.
your symptoms point towards acute tonsillitis.
it is the inflammation of the tonsils most commonly caused by viral or bacterial infection. Symptoms may include sore throat and fever. When caused by a bacterium belonging to the group A streptococcus, it is typically referred to as strep throat.

treatment includes-
1.pain relief, anti-inflammatory, fever reducing medications
2.sore throat relief (warm salt water gargle, lozenges, gargle)
3.If the tonsillitis is caused by group A streptococus, then antibiotics are useful with penicillin or amoxicillin being primary choices

thank you,
wishing you good health
