Smoking Marijuana, Tobacco, MDMA And Ecstasy. Can I Escape The Addiction?

Hello,
My name is Luke, I am a 20 year old male. I have been smoking marijuana consistently for the past 6 years, I was a moderate smoker for the first 1 then started smoking every day. In weight I smoke 0.5g a day, so 2 pounds a year currently. I also smoke tobacco with my marijuana out of a bong. I’ve smoked on average half a pack a day of cigarettes. I started using psychedelic mushrooms when I was only 13, and did those on average 3 times a year until present thereafter. I have tried MDMA and/or ecstasy 4 times. In the last six months I have been using cocaine regularly. Almost every time I can get my hands on it Ill buy some. On average I would say I have been using 1g a week. I am a college student taking business. My marks and my future are important to me. My question is, if I quit everything cold turkey, which I am prepared to do, is there any possibility for me to make a relatively full recover from such a history of drug use?
Regards,
Luke

Hi Luke,

You are very young and have a long life ahead of you. It is still not too late for you. Although it is not going to be easy, do try to quit. If you can remain abstinent, with time, your body and brain will gradually recover. One cannot say that everything will be as if you had never used drugs, but it definitely will be possible for you to lead a successful and fulfilling life. However, heavy use of cannabis and other drugs in such a young age predisposes you to a risk of developing psychosis later in life. It is also possible that you may perceive that your brain is not as sharp as before. But if you continue using drugs, the risks and damage can only increase.

Best wishes.
