Small Child Having Constipation, Skin Around Eyes Tainted Yellow, Pain Under Rib Cage. Related Symptoms?
my son has bowel problems and don,t go often enough(he is 7 and like this since 3 months)this is been managed at the moment . I have notice the skin at the corner of his eyes by his nose are now tinted yellowand also complains of pains under his rib cage on right hand side do think these are connected ??Do I need to worry ?thank you

Thank you for your query,
Your child seems to have functional constipation due to which he is passing hard stools.
Give him dietary fiber rich foods like vegetables, green leafy vegetables and fruits.
Give plenty of oral fluids and ask him to sit in toilet for 5 to 10 minutes daily.
If still he is having constipation stool softeners like lactulose syrup can be given at bed time daily for 3 to 5 days.
They look not related but the cause of the pain to be examined.
So consult your Pediatrician.

you need to change certain aspects of his diet and exercise
give him food rich in fibre...............like fruits, green leafy vegetables, unpolished wheat etc
fruits like banana, oranges, apple, mango etc
give him plenty of water...........
ask him to play actively and not sit around the computer or TV
REGARDING THE YELLOWISH DISCOLORATION OF EYES AND PAIN IN THE RIGHT SIDE BELOW RIB CAGE
may be he is having jaundice............you may have to get a serum bilirubin, and other liver enzyme levels like SGOT AND SGPT .................
so write to us with further details
