Should I Be Concerned Of Having Repeated Diarrhea For A Person With A History Of Cancer?
My wife started having diarrhea 3 weeks ago during a cold. The only new med changes was guiafenesin 400mg q 6h.After taking 2 or 3 doses of Imodium, the diarrhea holds of for 5 to 6 days..then becomes watery. A repeat of a couple of imodiium and good for 5 days. She had radiation treatment for 2 cancers 2001(uterus)..total hysterectomy no problems of cancer since...but has experienced constipation and used miralax. She had a dissection 2011, respiratory failure 3x 2012. I assume you see the med list I typed. My concerns are the repeated diarrhea every 5 days. She did take miralax yesterday.
Hi. the cancer treatments were in past. and your wife has developed diarrhea only for three weeks looks unrelated to the past problems. Use of miralax can also cause this. Imodium acts locally to control of diarrhea. She may be suffering from intestinal infection, which needs antibiotic treatment and investigations if it is not controlled. Better to stop or reduce the dose of miralax to half.
