Should I Take Antibiotics For Post Nasal Drip, Throat Phlegm, And Itchiness?

Hi,

I am 47 years old, male. I am allergic to carpet and every time I am exposed to it I started to suffer from Rhinitis. I regularly take co-altria but it did not help when I was exposed again to carpet. Now, I switched to another anti-histamine and I am taking aerius (clarinex). Five days ago before I started taking aerius, I went to a venue with carpet and that triggered my allergic rhinitis again. This time it seems to be that I am having post nasal drip and there are phlegm in my throat causing itchiness and hoarseness of my voice. Should i take an antibiotic now? Before I used to take 5 days of ciprofoxacin 500mg and it helped clear up my rhinitis. Hoping to get your advice. Thanks!

Hello,
Your problem is allergic in nature and hence Thete is no need to take any antibiotic.
You can take steam inhalation twice a day, avoid cold drinks, take hot liquids and continue your antihistaminic.
You should be all right soon.
Thanks
