Severe Vertigo, Crying Simply. Taking Medication For Depression And Bipolar Disorder. Should I Stop These Medicines?
I am 46 and have been on Effexor for about 6 months for depression. i am upto150 mg a day and feel worse now. I am on many drugs for bipolar but am now narrowing the search as to the culprit of these feelings as like severe vertigo and crying all the time. I just feel out of control emotionally. I feel I need to get off this stuff or decrease to 75???
Effexor (venlafaxine) is an antidepressant that works at doses between 75 to 225 mg. You must consult your doctor immediately if you have not found any improvement in your symptoms. Discuss the lack of improvement.
An important factor in your non-response (assuming that you are taking it regularly as prescribed without skipping any doses), is that you say you have bipolar disorder.
Bipolar depression may take longer to respond. I hope that the other medication you are on includes a mood stabiliser like Lithium or Valproate. In the absence of a mood stabiliser, an antidepressant may not work effectively.
Hope this helps.
