Ripped Frenelum, Bleeding, Painful. Recommended No Intercourse For 6 Weeks, Keep Dry And Clean. Recommendations?

I ripped my frenelum last night and it bled a lot....for a long long time and is extremely painful, I went to A&E today and the doc said I should just keep it clean and not have any type of intercourse for around six weeks in order for it to heal properly.
However after researching it online i saw that a lot of people it had happened to were given an antibiotic cream, or had it stitched back together, also im not sure if its just a tear or if its completely ripped?? also will this keep happening now that its happened once?? and once it has healed, will it look different or odd??
It happened because my partner hand slipped and hit my penis and crotch, and where my crotch got hit is still very sore...is that normal??
any advice would be much appreciated,as my doctor was female and I was too embarassed to ask any questions...also would this effect my performance in the future??

Thanks for your query.Based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have
sustained injury to your frenulum during vigorous sex.
It is not abnormal and will not have any ill effect on your sexual life in future .There is no need to restitch it and wait for normal healing which takes 3-4 weeks. You can take antibiotics to prevent infection.
Apply topical antibiotic like Neosporin over site of injury .
Clean your genital with arm water twice daily before applying ointment.
It will be fine within 2-3 weeks till then resist from sexual activities.
