Recurred Sore Throat, Swelling In Gland On Left Side, Pain In Throat. History Of Sore Throat, Cured With Antibiotics. Help

I had a sore throat 3 weeks back wherein I took Augmentin 256 mg. Since I didnt complete the course so I was prescribe another antibiotic whose course I completed and I was absolutely fine. However, two days now that I completed the course, my throat is sore again and it pains ,my left side gland has again swollen up a bit. I am scared now. I dont want that pain agian

Hello dear,

The symptoms as mentioned in your post indicate that you might be having Pharyngitis.

The reason for persistence of sore throat after treatment & repeated recurrence can be due to:
1. Inadequate duration of treatment
2. Inappropriate dosage of the medications
3. Inappropriate selection of antibiotics against the causative organism.
4. Improper treatment of underlying cause.

So, it will be better to consult an ENT specialist & discuss regarding this.
Meanwhile...avoid taking cold food & drinks, maintain adequate hydration & take soft, non-spicy foods.

Hi,
Thanks for contacting HCM
You have Recurred sore throat, swelling in gland on left side, pain in throat.
These all finding suggestive of recurrent oropharyngitis, best antiobiotic is that which given after throat swab culture and antibiotic sensitivity.
Better to avoid cold drinks, smoking, ice creams etc.
