Received First Dose Of Gardasil. Estimated Percent Immunity Attained? How Long To Wait For Next Dose?
If my 13 year old son received the first dose, what is the estimated percent immunity he has attained? Can he wait longer than 2 months to get the next dose and still retain the benefit from the first dose? What is the standard cost for an injection of Gardasil? Are there clinics to get the vaccine for lower cost? The first was shockingly expensive at $300. Thank you so much for the information. I really need help on this.
Hi, Thank you for asking question on health care magic. This vaccine is given in 3 doses at 0 , 2, and 6 months. There should be minimum 4 weeks gap between 1st and 2nd doses and minimum 12 weeks gap between 2nd and 3rd dose. If the gap is more no problem. The vaccine will prevent >90% new infections with the serotypes included in this vaccine. I do not have any idea about the cost in you country, but it is definitely cheaper in India. Hope this answer will serve your purpose Please feel free to ask any more queries if required Take care Dr.M.V.Subrahmanyam MD;DCH Associate professor of pediatrics
