Prescribed Mycophenolate. Does It Weakne Birth Control Strength?

I have just been prescribed mycophenolate sod 360mg. I am to take 2 pills twice a day. I am also still on 2 pills twice a day of cyclosporine only for three more weeks until the mycophenolate kicks in. My main concern is I also have the depoprevera shot every 10 weeks. Now if I read correctly the mycophenolate weakens the birth control strength in the depo.
I was also wondering if I am still on the mycophenolate by July 19th when my next depo shot is, should I still get it?

Hi

I think it is important for you to take mycophenolate and cyclosporin. You may discuss with your physician for options regarding contraception..

Since you may develop Pelvic inflammatory disease with intra-uterine devices as you may be having low immunity. This leaves us with two other options that is barrier contraceptive and hormonal contraceptives. I think depo-provera will continue to do a good job as contraceptive. You may combine it with barrier contraceptive like condom, etc to be more sure.
