The clot present in the cervix may represent the early onset of a spontaneous miscarriage. The signs would include rhythmic cramping and bright red bleeding from the vagina. This pregnancy may represent an empty sac (no baby) which is commonly called a blighted ovum and represents about half of all miscarriages.
