Plugged Ear, Whooshing Heartbeat, Trouble Hearing. Used Drops, Wax Removal. What Can Help In Relief?

I woke up 2 weeks ago with a plugged ear and it was still there at night so I used all kinds of drops including wax removal and swimmers ear and warm water and it finally unplugged the next morning... I am now left with this whooshing heartbeat sound and cracking ears. It's driving me crazy. I think i damaged my ears trying to resolve the issue. It now feels like fluid in my ears and my hearing has diminished. I also have terrible allergies too. What can I do to relieve this?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, it appears to be the infection of the middle ear, causing oozing, heart beat sound, and cracking in the ears. Thee block of the ear could be due to the blockage of the eustachian tube from the middle ear to the pharynnx.
So i advise you to consult an E.N.T.surgeon for diagnosis and treatment. Thank you.

ENT Specialist Dr. Vaishali Mehta's  Response
Hello,

Welcome to HCM. I understand that you are probably having fluid in the middle ear. The wax solvents will not be able to dissolve the fluid. So stop using them. Take an antiallergic like cetirizine and do valsalva maneuvre. This will help ease the ear block. But the best way to confirm the presence of fluid would be to get a physical exam and further audiometric testing. For further management, I would recommend you to visit an ENT Specialist.
Hope this helps.

Kind Regards,
Dr Vaishali Mehta
