Substance addiction can have irreversible damaging effects to many organs.
No smoking at least 12 hours before surgery. Ideally, cut down or stop smoking as soon as possible prior tothe day of surgery. Marijuana must be stopped at least two (2) weeks prior to surgery. In addition, it is critical for your health and well-being that our office staff and the doctors be told about any use of street drugs such as: cocaine, heroin, Ecstasy (E), methamphetamine (meth), crystal meth, designer drugs, etc. or any other recreational drugs before surgery. Please understand that this is not a value judgment about your lifestyle. It is a safety concern about your well-being during surgery and anesthesia.
Hope this helps
