Pap Smear Result Reveals Mild Inflammatory Background, Squamous Cells, Endocervical Cells. What Does That Mean?
I have just recd, result of the pap smear result which my daughter had. The results say the following smears reveal a mild inflammatory background, superficial squamous cells and intermediate cells. Endrocervical cells are not seen Dysplastic/malignant are not detected in the smears examined. Enclosed :-2 slides please preserve them carefully.
Hi, Welcome to HCM. This result indicates mild infection and nothing abnormal about it. Pap smears are done for screening purposes to rule out any malignant changes occurring in the cervix. If dysplastic or malignant cells are detected, it is reported as abnormal pap smear. Further confirmatory tests are done to rule out malignancy.
Thanks.
