Painful Tear On Labia, Cuts Between Vagina And Anus. Taken Medication For Strep Throat, Yeast Infection. Reason?

I am 26, and I have been sexually active with my boyfriend for about a month. About two weeks ago, I had to take antibiotics because I had strep throat. Shortly thereafter, I developed a yeast infection from it. We waited to have intercourse until I thought the yeast infection had cleared up, but that weekend we had a few missteps. We always use condoms, but one night it wasn't on very well, and to ease both our minds, I took Plan B. Two days later the condom broke and I had to take it again. Now, a week later, I have an extremely painful tear down the inner left side of my labia, and some cuts between the vagina and anus. Could the medications that I was on be contributing to this?

Thanks for posting your query.

From the information you have provided,
What you are experiencing might be due to 2 reasons:
1. Yeast infection- commonly candidiasis
2. Tears due to intercourse- presumably due to dryness/force
3. Allergy to latex- in condoms

Plan B is not the reason for this.
Antibiotics can predispose you to yeast infections.

So, please meet your doctor to clarify the reason and treat accordingly.

While you are getting treated for yeast infection, its best to avoid penetrative sex until the infection is cured( 2-3 days).

If its due to dryness, you can use lubic jelly which is a lubricant. Spending more time in foreplay can also help.

If its a proper tear due to force ,we need to let it heal. Superficial healing takes 3 days and it will be a week for you to feel totally comfortable.

Again, its best not to engage in sex during the first 3 days of healing.

If its due to latex allergy, please use non- latex or polyurethane condoms.

All the best, Hope I have cleared your doubts!
