Painful Breathing After Boxing, Muscle Problem?

I have pains when I breath, ranging from short breaths - minimal pain to long breaths - massive pain.. and very unbearable pains when I press on the bone where the ribs meet, I ve just turned 20, it seems to have occurred after a small bit of boxing, light sparring with friends however i dont remember getting hit too hard in that area, Could it be a muscle problem or should I see a local doctor

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.
I think you should see a physician who can do a chest Xray to rule out a rib fracture. If the Xray is normal, hot fomentation, a local diclofenac gel application and tablet Motrin 1 tablet as and when required (upto a maximum of 4 tablets a day) will help.
Hope this helps.
