I have been to the ER and Urgent Care twice in a week. It hurts on the left side of my neck when I swallow, but I do not have a sore throat. The pain is deeper inside. And I am having severe pain around my xiphoid process. The pain in my throat/neck is like a deep ache or throb, not sharp pain. The ER doctor assumed (without doing any type of Xray or medical test) that it is esophagitis. He put me on Carafate. I have been on it one week today. The Urgent Care doctor diagnosed Costochondritis and put me on Naproxen, along with another prescription for Naproxen. I am in such pain, at times, I cannot hardly stand it. I am assuming the reason they do not do any type of Xray or test is because I do not have medical insurance. I am wondering if you think their diagnoses are correct?
