Pain Below Sternum On Lying On Sides. Any Ideas?
Hello,
im a 53 year old male in excellant body shape, at night only when i lay down in bed if I lay on my tummy or either side
I get heavy pain that seems like its just below my sternum in the center of my body, if i lay on my back it goes away
or if I lay on my arm just below the the sternum it goes away, this strted 3 days ago, if feel nothing abnormal unless im laying down in those postions, the pain feels like thier is pressure pushing on my chest and back..
hopefully you may have an ides

Thanks for posting the question to H.C.M.Forum.
Pain in the chest is from the last 3-4 days, assuming that before you were fine.
Acute reason is there.
Here are two possibilities as,
1 Due to hyper acidity and gastritis i.e esophagitis ( inflammation of esophagus due to some irritant substances as beverages ,fried food,over eating,spirit (alcohol).
As you said when you pressurize sternum (lying down) pain aggravates because of this it become more irritate hence pain.
2 Chondritis in your case is not fit. In this disease there is pain in sternum and costal margin.
So please avoid irritant substance in your diet and some local anesthetic antacid will give you relief.
One more reason of this disease may be-----Tension i.e anxiety if severe,it develops this type of symptoms.
