Pain And Swelling On Hip After Fall, Knee Pain. History Of Knee Surgery
My husband fell on his hip while mountain biking 10 days ago. He had some abrasions and a lot of bruising . Today he has a large amount of pain and swelling on the outside of his hip. Should he go to urgent care tonight or can he wait for an appointment with his PCP tomorrow? He is a 33 year old male in otherwise good health. He is having some knee pain as well, but has had 2 prior knee surgeries for a torn meniscus on the knee. Thank you!

He might have developed haematoma,collection of blood.
It will resolve spontaneously in course of time
Please take Antibiotic to prevent infection and skeletal muscle relaxant.
As 10 days is over and there is no difficulty in walking,you can wait for your consultation.
But,get an x ray of hip joint to rule out any small fracture.
Wish him speedy recovery and good health

Welcome to the forum.
It might be soft tissue injury or fracture.
Without X-ray, it is difficult to differentiate a fracture from others. I suggest him to consult an orthopaedician nearby for a detailed examination. he may get the X-ray of the area affected under his/her guidance.
In the interim,take anti-inflammatory drug like motrin to reduce pain and inflammation. Avoid putting weight and rest well.
