Odd Shaped Dark Spot On His Upper Back, Bug Bite, Swollen, Red. Is It Something Serious?

My 1 year old son has a odd shaped dark spot on his upper back. Hes had it for about 6 months and the other day it looked like he got a bug bite right where that spot was and it was swollen and red. within 2 days the bump went away, but the spot of course is still there. Not sure if it was really a bug bite or not though. Maybe im just paranoid, but it doesnt hurt to ask.

I think you're right to question this. It could simply be a bug bite, but unless you're sure, it's best to biopsy the lesion and get it checked. He's only 1 and this spot appeared only in the past 6 months? Now it got inflammed for no apparent reason, excluding possible bug bite. I would shave or punch biopsy it and possibly do an excision to include a healthy margin around it. It's a simple painless procedure that can be done in the office. You should certainly get it checked, especially if the size, color, or internal shades have changed. Also if the borders are irregular.
Good luck.
