Non Smoker, Had Pneumonia In Left Lung, Treated With Antibiotics. Lung Cloudy In X-ray. Meaning?

I was in the hospital 3 weeks ago with lower lobe pneumonia of the left lung. I am 42, non smoker. I was treated with antibiotics in hospital for 4 days and continued at home for 10 days. Then went for follow up x-ray 10 days after finishing the anti-biotics. I don't have the results yet but saw the xray and the lowe part of my lung looked cloudy and I still cough a lot. What could that be?

Hi,
Thanks for your query.
Usually radiological clearance of lesion requires almost 4 weeks, After pneumonia if patient is symptomatically improving then its fine. X-ray may have residual lesion after 10 days..
But in your case you have not improved fully even after 10 days. What I feel is you must go for sputum examination for Acid fast bacilli, and culture and sensitivity. Along with go for followup complete blood count. If Total leucocyte count is increased you need to be evaluated once again....

Best wishes
