As per your query sore throat and occasional fever with allergy which seems to be due to infection of upper respiratory tract leading to inflammation of tonsils . Upper respiratory tract infection can be caused bacterial or viral . The symptoms can also occur due to allergic reaction from food or other products like dental cream. I would suggest you to start with warm saline gargles and betadine gargles 3-4 times a day. For pain and swelling you should take ibuprofen or acetaminophen as you already taking . Avoid cold, sharp , spicy food product , do warm saline rinses and carbonated beverages. Consult ENT specialist for proper diagnosis and rule out condition like strep throat and viral infection . Doctor may order order throat swab test , allergy test and viral culture test . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics penicillin or amoxicillin , anti histamine or anti viral drug depending upon the diagnosis along with decongestants and anti inflammatory.
